Application for activity licenses
The Financial Supervision Authority issues and revokes activity licenses for the management of credit institutions, insurers, investment firms, investment funds and pension funds. The activity license issued by the Financial Supervision Authority is for an unspecified term.
Of the companies established in Estonia, only the companies that have received an activity license of a credit institution from the Financial Supervision Authority may raise deposits from public.
The branches of financial institutions of foreign states notify the Financial Supervision Authority of their intention to launch their activities in Estonia through the financial supervision authorities of their states. The Financial Supervision Authority has the right to establish secondary conditions on the activities of the branches in accordance with the legislation in force in Estonia.
A financial institution wishing to provide services specified in its activity licenses in another contracting state of the European Economic Area and for this purpose, to establish a branch on the territory of the other contracting state, shall notify Financial Supervision Authority of its intention and shall submit the information and documents specified in law.
A financial institution wishing to offer cross-border services in Estonia, shall inform the Financial Supervision Authority about it and shall submit the information and documents specified in law.
