Finantsinspektsioon fined AS SEB Pank (registry code 10004252) 19,000 euros for a misdemeanour, as technical problems during an update to its mobile and internet banking software caused the bank to release confidential banking information to third parties without authorisation.

Finantsinspektsioon and Eesti Pank held a seminar for teachers on 1 March from 10.00–12.00 that discussed the work of Eesti Pank, inflation and the risks of crypto assets. Finantsinspektsioon and the youth information website Teeviit are inviting schoolchildren from years 1–12 across Estonia to enter a cartoon drawing competition focused on understanding money. There will be prizes for each age group.

Creditors signed a third more small loan contracts last year

Non-bank creditors and credit intermediaries operating in Estonia signed 671,293 unsecured small loan contracts with private individuals in 2022. This was 32% more contracts than in the previous year, but the average amount borrowed was smaller than before. The average loan taken last year was of 786 euros, where in the previous year it was 888 euros.

Finantsinspektsioon made changes to the insolvency ranking published on its website in November 2021. The new form of the insolvency ranking takes account of the order of preference for claims and liabilities set out in the Financial Crisis Prevention and Resolution Act.
