The transitional period for providers of crypto asset services is ending

From 1 July, crypto asset services may only be provided in Estonia only by companies that hold an authorisation issued by Finantsinspektsioon or the supervisory authority of another contracting state of the European Economic Area under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

SEB got permission to merge in the Baltics

The European Central Bank has given permission for SEB to merge its Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian subsidiaries into a single legal entity to be named SEB Bank AS. Operations in Latvia and Lithuania will be continued by branches of the bank.

Finantsinspektsioon has withdrawn the licence as a crowdfunder from Crowdestate AS

On 13 April Finantsinspektsioon withdrew the licence as a provider of crowdfunding services issued on 6 March 2023 to Crowdestate AS. The licence was withdrawn following an application from the company itself. The company’s licence as a payment institution will remain valid.
