Finantsinspektsioon issued a precept to Wallester AS requiring it to remedy deficiencies identified during supervision that included issues in the organisation of its governance and control functions, holding client assets, and countering money laundering and terrorist financing.

The precept requires Wallester AS to separate the lines of defence at all levels, introduce and apply the necessary internal rules, put in place the measures demanded by law for holding client assets, and ensure that there are sufficient human resources available to meet the requirements for countering money laundering and terrorist financing.

Finantsinspektsioon carried out an on-site inspection at Wallester AS that assessed its general governance and risk management, and its internal audit and compliance control functions. It also looked at the company’s capital management, correctness of reporting, anti-money laundering and terrorist financing work, and application of financial sanctions. Wallester AS has until 31 December at the latest to remedy the deficiencies identified.
