Nordic Baltic Crisis Simulation Exercise, 2024

To test the preparedness for a potential crisis situation, authorities from the Nordic-Baltic countries responsible for financial stability during this week conducted a financial crisis simulation exercise in the Nordic-Baltic region, involving three fictitious banks with cross-border activities.

Chair of the ECB’s Banking Supervision Claudia Buch visited Estonia

On 5-6 September, the Chair of the ECB’s Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) for banking supervision, Claudia Buch, visited Estonia. During her visit Ms Buch met the management board of Finantsinspektsioon and the leaders of the Estonian banks.

Finantsinspektsioon revokes authorisation of AS Cresco Väärtpaberid

On 10 June 2024, Finantsinspektsioon (Financial Supervision Authority, FSA) revoked the authorisation of investment firm AS Cresco Väärtpaberid (registry code 10093327). The FSA significantly restricted the right of AS Cresco Väärtpaberid to provide investment services in 2021 as the company was in breach of the requirements of law. AS Cresco Väärtpaberid has fewer than ten clients.

Finantsinspektsioon withdrew the licences from the creditors Credit.ee OÜ and Saare Finants OÜ

On 20 May Finantsinspektsioon withdrew the operating licences as a creditor and mortgage creditor issued on 5 June 2017 to Credit.ee OÜ and on 18 August 2016 to Saare Finants OÜ. The licences were withdrawn at the application of the companies themselves.

Finantsinspektsioon held a joint seminar with the Securities and Exchange Commission

Finantsinspektsioon held a seminar on 8-12 April with experts from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that discussed the best practices in market oversight and securities enforcement, including investor protection and practical exercises, together with training on investigating market manipulation cases and fraud involving digital assets.

Scam emails are being sent out in the name of Finantsinspektsioon

Scam emails are being sent out in the name of Kilvar Kessler, head of Finantsinspektsioon, from an address ending @ee-fi.com. The emails are frauds, and Finantsinspektsioon urges people to be vigilant and not to open such emails.
