The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published the results of the EU-wide stress test. The stress test scenario covered a severe hypothetical economic downturn and spans a three-year period. A total of 64 banks participated in the exercise, including banks with subsidiaries in Estonia, such as Swedbank and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken.
The European Central Bank (ECB) published the results of its 2025 stress test. The ECB stress-tested 96 banks under its direct supervision. Of those, 51 are the euro area’s largest banks which are included in the EU-wide stress test coordinated by the European Banking Authority (EBA), and 45 are medium-sized banks outside the EBA sample. The ECB stress-test included two Estonian banks - Luminor Holding and LHV Group.
Supervisory authorities will take the results of the stress test into account in the supervisory review and evaluation process (SREP), as well as in the assessment of banks’ risks and capital requirements.
More information about EBA and the ECB stress test results is available on the EBA website and ECB website.
