The work of Finantsinspektsioon under the conditions of COVID-19

Finantsinspektsioon is taking gradual and carefully considered preventative steps to avoid members of staff falling ill. Given the current circumstances, the everyday work and operations of Finantsinspektsioon are being reorganised.

Finantsinspektsioon is prioritising supervisory procedures that are aimed at increasing the stability and transparency of the financial sector as the COVID-19 virus spreads. The day-to-day official communication between Finantsinspektsioon and subjects of financial supervision and official institutions will be carried out by telephone and email. Administrative acts, invitations, notifications and other documents can be delivered electronically in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act.

Finantsinspektsioon will continue any interrupted supervisory proceedings in accordance with all relevant laws, but will pay special attention to assessing the need for each transaction. The application that is needed to initiate authorisation proceedings or other procedures and other documents and data required by law may be sent to Finantsinspektsioon through electronic channels.

Finantsinspektsioon will do everything that it can to avoid interruptions and to resolve supervisory actions, but under the circumstances such interruptions may still occur, including delays in responding to questions and in executing procedures as a consequence of remote working.
